  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to create a roux and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, and bring to a simmer while stirring until thickened.
  5. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the sauce, then incorporate the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Mix the pasta with the cheese sauce, then fold in the sour cream and crumbled turkey bacon.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and top with remaining cheese and extra turkey bacon if desired.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
